New December Holiday, Holifestigala, Surfaces in Cyberspace

New December Holiday, Holifestigala, Surfaces in Cyberspace

Web Site Features Unique Traditions, Songs and Virtual Postcards

POMPANO BEACH, Fla., Dec. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Christmas, Kwanzaa and Hanukkah welcome a new celebration to the winter holiday season when December 28 marks the first annual Holifestigala. Commonly referred to as "America's Holidayest Holiday," Holifestigala unites all individuals behind spirited traditions and customs that don't seek to displace established holidays, but create new ways to spread warmth and joy to others.

"There's room for more than one holiday in December," says one of Holifestigala's founders, Dan Gershenson, a senior copywriter in South Florida. "For too long has this country been divided in its festivities - finally a holiday has emerged that is universal, politically correct and, yes, fun for the whole family."

On the Web site, http://www.holifestigala.com/, visitors can learn what it means to be a true Holifestigaliac. Learn traditions like "Dressing the Chinchilla in festive clothing," including sweaters and other fun holiday wear. The Chinchilla is the official pet of Holifestigala, and the Chinchilla personality, Zippy, is the focus of several musical animations on the Web site. Original creations include rap song "Z-I-P-P-Y," pop ballad "Holifestigala Baby" and the country-inspired "Holifestianthem." Other traditions include serving of the Crab Rangoon to signal the main feast, and exchanging gifts under the Purple Tumbleweed.

Web and multimedia designer Jack Behar encourages site visitors to "spend hours becoming one with the Holifestigala spirit that lives online." Celebration seekers can make Holifestigala their own and submit a new tradition idea. The most creative traditions will be posted and the originators awarded with an exclusive Holifestigala T-shirt. Holifestigaliacs can also spread holiday cheer through different e-cards that depict Holifestigala's unique traditions.

Holifestigala takes place the fourth Tuesday of every December. It may last one day, or six weeks - how long depends on a person's pet Chinchilla and some peanut butter. To learn more about this custom, and other Holifestigala creations, visit http://www.holifestigala.com/.
