Notes of Interest:

The murder of heavy metal band guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott (#16) sent web users scouring the Internet for news about the singer who was gunned down as he performed on stage last week in Columbus, Ohio. Ironically, the murder of Dimebag and four other people who were also killed by Nathan Gale, took place on the 24th anniversary of the murder of John Lennon. Witnesses at the concert reported that Gale, who was killed by police at the scene, allegedly accused Dimebag of breaking up the band Pantera, another popular heavy metal group who toured with Ozzie Osbourne.

Other Notes of Interest:

Model Heidi Klum (#43) makes her debut on this week's Lycos 50, marking the first time Klum has ever appeared on the list. Klum's recent television show, Project Runway on Bravo, will pick the next hot fashion designer. Searches for Klum have increased more than 200 percent over the past week.

Do Not Call Me on My Cell Phone Either:

The Federal Do Not Call web site made it to number one on The Lycos 50 in June 2003, when the federal government introduced a national Do Not Call List to combat telemarketers. The WWW.DONOTCALL.GOV web site (#37) re-enters this week's list as the Do Not Call List now applies to mobile phones.
