Ektron Offers a Visual Development Environment for Rapid CMS Integration and Deployment

AMHERST, N.H., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Ektron Inc., enhanced the Web developer experience today by adding ASP.NET server controls to its content management solution, CMS400.NET. Ektron leverages strong capabilities of Visual Studio.NET to give developers a truly visual environment for integrating CMS components into Web templates including content blocks, list summaries, collections search, calendars, and forms. Organizations can reduce mundane coding and development costs while developers can deliver environments that offer richer user experiences, and improved security with user authentication and authorization.

"Developer productivity is a high priority issue among Web development teams," said Ed Rogers, vice president of engineering, Ektron, Inc. "Faced with the challenge of working with reduced IT budgets, smaller teams, and compressed schedules to roll out new sites and Web applications, developers need every advantage tilted in their favor to enable them to support their organizational Web strategies."

The Ektron CMS400.NET content management solution gives developers the tools they need to be highly productive and efficient and make a rapid, positive impact on their Web strategy. CMS400.NET delivers a new suite of data-bindable server controls that enable developers to work in a completely visual, drag-and-drop environment to integrate Ektron CMS components into templates. The CMS Explorer in VS.NET included with the server controls speeds the development process through real-time communication with the CMS via Web services.

In addition to visual server controls, developers can integrate Ektron CMS functionality in other ways. Web developers can access CMS data objects, exposed through server controls in their own code-behind, so they can programmatically manage data and create highly customized and dynamic Web sites. Developers can also apply an XSLT to data returned by the controls, supporting flexible Web presentation options and enabling developers, system integrators and Web development firms to build custom code within templates.

A developer using the Ektron CMS does not need a full copy of the CMS software and replica of the production Web site to develop templates. The Ektron CMS provides a "virtual development environment," allowing the developer to work from a remote development station.
