Calling All Pet Lovers - Band Together to Save a Pet This Holiday Season

LYNBROOK, N.Y., Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- PetcareRx.com, a premier on-line discount retailer of pet pharmaceuticals and supplies, announces the launch of the 'I Saved a Pet' campaign -- a national initiative aimed at supporting pet rescue groups and no-kill shelters that give abandoned, neglected, and abused animals a second chance.

For a pledge of $1.00, donors will receive one royal blue rubber wristband imprinted with the words 'I Saved a Pet'. 100% of the proceeds will go to a sponsored shelter chosen by PetCareRx.

"As pet owners, and as people whose livelihood depends on keeping pets happy and healthy, we at PetCareRx are proud to be undertaking this initiative" says Ari Kantrowitz, Director of Corporate Giving at PetCareRx.

PetcareRx is hoping to reach its goal of selling 30,000 bracelets by the end of December in order to make its first full donation of $30,000 to this month's sponsored shelter, Bobbi and the Strays, a non-profit no-kill shelter based in Ozone Park, New York, which spays, neuters, and cares for animals in need of a home.

PetcareRx chose to start this campaign working with an organization in its own backyard with the hopes of expanding the 'I Saved a Pet' campaign nationwide, helping shelters and groups around the country.

Approximately 56% of dogs and 71% of cats that enter animal shelters are euthanized. American Humane estimates that 9.6 million animals are euthanized annually in the United States.
