BEA Tuxedo Expands Mainframe Connectivity Offerings to Provide Support for the Latest Mainframe Applications and Connectivity Protocols
Immediate Availability of Upgraded BEA Tuxedo Mainframe Adapters Designed To Improve Interoperability and Help Provide Open Systems Platform for Off-Loading Mainframe Applications
SHANGHAI, China, BEA eWORLD CHINA, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In an effort to provide a better infrastructure for migrating legacy solutions to open systems or for building new mission-critical applications which require mainframe connectivity, BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BEAS), a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, today announced the availability of upgraded BEA Tuxedo(TM) Mainframe Adapters. BEA Tuxedo's proven mainframe adapters, which are designed to provide end-to-end transactional support between BEA Tuxedo and mainframe applications, can now support applications built on IMS 8.1 and CICS 2.3. With these new adapters, mainframe customers can continue to leverage their existing IT assets through creating composite architectures, linking their IMS or CICS applications on the mainframe with open, standards-based applications built on BEA Tuxedo(TM). These adapters can also play an important role in supporting a migration strategy to open systems, which may require the mainframe applications to co-exist with BEA Tuxedo during the transition period.
The full suite of BEA Tuxedo Mainframe Adapters are designed to enable customers to more quickly integrate their front-office applications with key processes, platforms, back-office and other front-office applications from the Web to the mainframe. These mainframe adapters are also designed to help to integrate with other business processes and to help capitalize on the benefits of service-oriented architectures (SOAs).
BEA Tuxedo Mainframe adapters, as part of a complete BEA solution, are designed to provide a robust and scalable, end-to-end transaction processing solution that can be more easily implemented and maintained. BEA adapters' out-of-the-box functionality is designed to help eliminate the cost of programming complex application interfaces, while the reliability, scalability, and manageability of the product can help improve the customer experience. BEA Tuxedo Mainframe Adapters are designed to enable integration through BEA Tuxedo, a proven platform for helping simplify distributed transaction processing and message-based application development, while helping to deliver scalability and standards-based interoperability, which is fundamental to a service-oriented architecture.
"Mainframes continue to play a role in providing mission-critical infrastructure for many IT environments, including many data centers in China," said George Gould, director, product marketing, BEA Systems. "We are excited that BEA Tuxedo's robust mainframe connectivity options can now support the latest versions of IMS and CICS. With this announcement, BEA Tuxedo Mainframe Adapters can continue to provide key connectivity that IT organizations need to either offload or extend their existing mainframe applications to open systems, or completely migrate their legacy applications to open architectures which can support Web services and service-oriented architectures."
