BEA CEO Alfred Chuang and Industry Luminaries from HP, Intel, Others, Keynote on Opening Day

SHANGHAI, BEA eWORLD CHINA, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- http://bea.com/more_info.jsp?p=264&r=2.10.15 BEA Systems, (NASDAQ:BEAS), a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, announced that the first ever BEA eWorld China 2004 conference opened today at the Shanghai International Convention Center. The theme of this year's conference is "Forward Looking Technology Building the Framework for the Future." During the two-day conference, BEA is demonstrating some of the newest global technology and applications through a series of presentations, technology demonstrations and focused events like the CEO Forum and Developers Day. More than 3,000 industry professionals from all over the world are scheduled to participate in BEA eWorld China 2004.

The convention opened with a keynote address by Mr. Marcus Tsoi, BEA general manager, who was followed throughout the day by several government officials, BEA executives including CEO Alfred Chuang and executive vice president of products, Wai Wong, a host of BEA partners including HP and Intel and key BEA customers including Federal Express.

Alfred Chuang, founder, chairman and CEO of BEA delivered a keynote entitled "BEA and SOA: Boosting innovation in China's new economic environment." Mr. Chuang praised the achievements made by BEA China during the past seven years and proposed that enterprises operating in China's new economic environment build IT systems based on SOA architecture to help increase their competitiveness and productivity and to help them further integrate into the global economy.

In addition to executives and technical experts from both BEA headquarters and BEA China, a broad range of customers and partners including HP, Intel, China Ping An Insurance, Neu-Soft and Digital China are scheduled to deliver presentations throughout BEA eWorld China 2004. Topics will focus on strategic industry trends and include discussions and demonstrations on how to realize technical innovation and integration, the application and enablement of SOA in China and the role that SOA technology can have in driving business innovation.

Mr. Yang Chunfu, Vice President of HP China, and General Manager of the TSG Consultation Division, is scheduled to discuss how to enhance efficiency and competition through the integration of enterprise IT systems. Mr. Lin Shengcong, General Manager of Intel Microelectronics Asia Internet Division, is scheduled to discuss how the BEA WebLogic Platform(TM) and Intel architecture are designed to help customers realize seamless integration and technical innovation. Key BEA customers FedEx, Ping An Insurance Ltd. and others are also scheduled to discuss how the BEA WebLogic Platform helped change their business.

More than 60 technology seminars for customers, partners and developers are planned by BEA to introduce the newest technology, solutions and relationship programs focused in industries such as telecommunications, finance, government and public utilities. Participants are scheduled to discuss development and management issues and solutions with a focus on BEA WebLogic Platform and BEA Tuxedo(TM) technology.

"Developers Day" activities and technology sessions are scheduled on December 16 and 17 to share the latest information in standards and open- source technology relative to BEA WebLogic products.
