Fry, Inc. Helps Kmart Launch Redesigned Web Site

kmart.com offers consumers enhanced product and purchase information online

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Fry, Inc., a leading e-commerce design, development and managed services provider announced the successful re-launch of Kmart's web site. kmart.com, which arrived just in time for holiday shopping, offers a user-friendly interface with easy navigation, a superior search function, and access to diversified product assortments spanning all Kmart products and brands.

Fry completely redesigned and rebuilt kmart.com using its Open Commerce Platform(TM) (OCP), an e-commerce solution that enables retailers to quickly and economically develop an online presence. The platform allows for Kmart to easily update the site on an on-going basis and the flexibility to create promotions on the site to match seasonality as well as special campaigns.

Kmart's new site features leading search and guided navigation technology from Fry partner Endeca that allows consumers to effortlessly find products. Consumers can select from highlighted items related to product characteristics like brand, department and price range. Customers can also take advantage of tools and programs such as customized wish lists, online gift-wrapping service, and expanded product information with larger images and color swatches.

"We're excited to work with Kmart's e-commerce group to build and launch this new site," said David Fry, president and chief executive officer of Fry. "It's a beautiful showcase for their many popular brands, providing their customers with a superior online shopping experience and access to Kmart's extensive product lines."

Complementing the advanced search capabilities are online buying guides outlined by industry experts to assist customers in choosing their merchandise. Industry terms are defined and tips are offered on how to make the appropriate purchase for each customer's specific needs.

The site showcases Kmart's exclusive brands such as Martha Stewart Everyday, Thalia Sodi, Jaclyn Smith, Route 66, and introduces a new partnership with Martha Stewart Flowers.

In addition to its redesign and rebuild work, Fry will host the site and provide managed services on an on-going basis.
