TORONTO, July 27, 2016 /CNW/ - After leaving the Pit Start in first place, best friends Kelly and Kate fell behind the other teams in Skidegate and Prince Rupert, B.C. Complex puzzles proved to be challenging for the Toronto-based business partners, who quickly lost their lead to become the fourth team eliminated from THE AMAZING RACE CANADA at the North Pacific Cannery Pit Stop.

"After The Amazing Race [Canada], we believe that we can do anything together," Kelly said of her time running the race with her teammate. Kate went on to say, "This race has really opened our eyes to what the world has to offer. Most importantly, what Canada has to offer."

Episode 405 Recap

The seven remaining teams travelled over 11,000 kilometres from the Pit Start in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Sandspit, on the islands of Haida Gwaii, British Columbia. Once there, they boarded a ferry to Skidegate in search of their next clue.

At the Road Block, one member from each team was required to listen carefully to six storytellers in order to correctly identify six totem poles. Kristen finished the challenge first, seizing the lead for her team, with Ashley and Joel following closely behind. Jillian, Julie, and Yvette struggled and chose to work together to complete the challenge.

Teams then made their way to the Spirit Lake Trail, where they had to piece together two puzzles of contemporary Haida art. Some teams assembled their puzzles quickly, while Kelly and Kate had trouble piecing things together and left the challenge in last place.

First to complete their puzzles, Steph and Kristen kept their lead and set off to their next clue, which instructed them to take a sea plane from Queen Charlotte City to Prince Rupert. Upon finishing their puzzles, Jillian and Emmett stopped to help Julie and Lowell as a thank you for Julie's help in the previous task, but set off as soon as they saw Ashley and Joel complete their task.

At the second Road Block, one member from each team learned to maneuver a tiny dozer boat through a lane of floating logs in a log boom. In this task, they had to locate and deliver marked timber rafts to a dispatcher to receive their next clue. With teams Steph and Kristen and Jillian and Emmett still in the lead, teams Joel and Ashley, Frankie and Amy, Rita and Yvette, and Julie and Lowell all met at the log booms at the same time. Lowell's limited vision made it challenging to locate the marked logs, but he persevered and ultimately finished before Kelly and Kate.

The final clue led teams to Jon and the Pit Stop at the North Pacific Cannery in the nearby fishing village of Port Edward. After placing second in the three previous legs, Steph and Kristen finally arrived in time to grab a first place finish. They were awarded with a trip for two to New York City, with five nights' accommodation provided by Hotels.com. Kelly and Kate were the last team to arrive and were eliminated from the race.
