ROSE & ROY: ART & LOVE STORY

NEW YORK, April 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ROSE & ROY is a deeply touching, documentary film, which tells the story of a fifty-five-year affair between two British painters, ROSE WYLIE (who has been called a national treasure and a true, original painter of subject matter ranging from contemporary Egyptian Hajj wall paintings to celebrity gossip) and her husband, modern painter ROY OXLADE as they reflect, on their past history and their lives together.

As a further testament to the beauty of ROSE & ROY, the film has been honored with an array of awards, such as: Official Selection NYCIFF, 2016; Gold Award Winner Spotlight, 2015; Winner, Award of Merit, Indie First Film Awards.

From the beginning, their marriage was an extraordinary love match, an inspiring and touching union of restless intellects and imaginations. When Roy and Rose were so-called mature students in the 1970s at the Royal College of Art (RCA), they strolled about hand in hand. The RCA intimidated some students, but never the Oxlades, who mimicked the foibles, obsessions and absurdities of the teachers to great effect.

Deftly directed by award winning filmmaker; Adolfo Doring, Cinematographer of Academy Award nominated Best Documentary 2004 "Capturing the Friedmans"; he also has directed/shot/edited music videos for a wide array of musicians, such as; Sting, Bon Jovi, Savage Garden, and received an MTV Music Video Award for 'Hold My Hand' by Hootie and The Blowfish in 1995. Following the critical success of his dramatic feature film, METRO (2006), which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, Doring has gone on to make two other dramatic features; 'Thinly Veiled' (2009) and 'The Price of Dreams'; a double feature in four parts, in addition to three, feature length documentaries, 'The Trial of The St. Patrick's Four' (2005), 'Got Stem Cells?' (2007),'Blind Spot' (2009), 'Rose & Roy' (2015).

Doring's personal statement about the Documentary is; "This film is very antithetical to the times we live in, it leaves you with a renewed faith in humanity and the appreciation of simple things." It is a riveting portraiture of two eclectic artists, bringing viewers directly into the couple's daily life; leading up to the prestigious exhibition at the historic Tate Britain Gallery in London, showcasing Rose's eclectic, large scale paintings.
