Spring Moves Launches Playlist Feature To Supercharge New Workouts With Rhythm-Based Music

Yoga and Spinning the latest activities to utilize hand-curated playlists from Spring Moves music and fitness experts

NEW YORK, Aug. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Spring, the app by Spring Moves, that matches your movement to music, launched an innovative new Playlist feature today that gives users the option to select playlists for any workout under the sun. Whether you are running, weight lifting, or doing yoga, Spring Moves boosts your workout motivation. The app uses music and technology to help people realize their full athletic potential.

Spring Moves is a personalized workout radio that matches musical beat to your cadence in order to create a unique, musically-paced workout program. The company's mission is to make exercise feel less effortful and more enjoyable using music. Its iOS app first launched in 2014 prompts users to specify their athletic activity and then set the ideal cadence for their workout. Spring Moves realized that many of its users did not want to take the time to personalize their playlists -- they just wanted to hit "play" and go. Spring Moves created the Playlist feature to support a broader range of activities and preferences.

Playlists relies less on algorithms and data, and more on human curation. Users choose from a selection of 20 playlists, such as "Power Walking on Sunshine," "Yoga Flow," or "Spin City Remixed," stream those songs as they work out, and can provide active feedback about what they like or dislike.

"Our whole goal is to make people move better, easier, and happier," said Mattias Stanghed, founder of Spring Moves. "People live busy lives and often don't have much time to work out. When they do finally decide to squeeze one in, every minute counts, and Playlists helps make the process of selecting music as quick as humanly possible. All you have to do is select the playlist you want and you have the perfect soundtrack for your workout."

Working out is hard, and one of the greatest challenges is quieting the voice in your head that says you are tired and bored. Music provides a powerful distraction from the physiological signs of exertion, like aching muscles or a pounding heart, and is scientifically proven to help people workout more effectively. Studies show that running to music can lower perceived effort by as much as 12%. In addition, a recent study showed that time to exhaustion was 18% longer in treadmill runners listening to synchronous music when compared to no music at all. In addition, two studies conducted with walkers and runners showed that music/movement synchronicity increased endurance by up to 15% when measuring Perceived Rate of Exertion.

With the Playlist feature, Spring Moves gives all types of athletes more flexible, convenient options for enhancing their workouts and hitting their peak performance.

Spring is now available for free on the iTunes App Store or at springmoves.com (Customers can use Spring Moves for free for the first 5+ hours of use? and afterwards pricing is $3.99/month for unlimited use or $19.99 per year).
