"Kung Fury" Director David Sandberg Collaborates with GreenScreen Animals for Hit Movie Short
LOS ANGELES, June 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- GreenScreen Animals, the leader in high quality, humane animal content for entertainment, recently collaborated with Swedish director David Sandberg on "Kung Fury," an '80s inspired action comedy short. The film debuted in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and has become an internet sensation, garnering 15 million views on YouTube since its release on May 28.
"When researching options for the time machine sequence we ran across the GSA stock footage library. Their 4K resolution wolf clips were perfect for Barbarianna, the Viking barbarian," said Sandberg. "We were really impressed with the variety of wolf clips, the quality of the footage and the ease of use. The 4K footage was perfect for Fido, our visual effects team. It gave us a ton of creative freedom and we are so pleased."
GSA supplied the filmmakers with a total of 4 wolf clips over green. The California-based company owns and licenses the largest green screen animal footage library globally and supplies footage and stills for use in film, television, video games and advertising. GSA offers filmmakers a high quality, cost effective, responsible and safe solution for their projects. They also leverage their industry experience by providing custom, turn-key shoots.
" 'Kung Fury' is an incredibly unique project and we are proud to be a part of the magic," said Mark Shockley, Co-founder and President of GSA. "When David explained his vision and described Barbarianna riding a black Timber wolf, we were thrilled. A martial arts comedy with Laser raptors, barbarians and wolves. How can you go wrong?"
"Kung Fury" was released on the internet after raising $640,000 on Kickstarter, well above its initial $200,000 goal. It centers around a Miami detective with special Kung Fu powers who travels through time to fight Adolf Hitler, encountering mythical Nordic characters and a T-Rex along the way. It also features a theme song and music video performed by David Hasselhoff.
