BROOKLYN, N.Y., March 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Lessonface, the online ecosystem for live music lessons with some of the best teachers in the world, is celebrating its second anniversary of making great music educators more accessible.
As of February 2015, Lessonface is pledging 1% of total sales to Fender Music Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that uses 100% of every dollar donated to obtain instruments for students and to promote music education and therapy programs in community centers and schools across the US.
In celebration of the first two years in business, and in anticipation of a successful 2015 (and beyond), Lessonface CEO Claire Cunningham felt strongly that she wanted to give back: "Fender Music Foundation is a tremendous organization, and we could not be more thrilled to support the Foundation's crucial efforts to expand access to music and music education."
Below are some exciting Lessonface stats from the first two years:
-- Teachers and students participate in live online lessons in over 24
countries. Most students come from the US (76%), with the next largest
group of students coming from Canada (8%).
-- A teacher roster that includes multiple Grammy winners and nominees:
Lessonface boasts a very high proportion of graduates of top music
schools, many with advanced degrees, and many other extremely impressive
musicians and musical educators.
-- 52% of lessons take place between students and teachers within 1-3 time
zones away. 15% take place 4 or more time zones away.
-- A vibrant and engaged community including over 50,000 members and
followers, across the online platform and related social networks.
-- More-than-tripled revenue in the second year over the first, a trend
that is accelerating in early 2015.
Executive Director of the Fender Music Foundation Lynn Robison likewise is excited to receive support from Lessonface, noting that the innovative online teaching service "connects those who wish to learn how to make music with those who are qualified to teach them in a very efficient way. We at the Foundation believe Lessonface is a great service that shares our passion to give everyone the opportunity to make music."
