Meteorologist Max Mayfield Named "2015 National Weatherperson of the Year" by Nonprofit Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH)®

Honor announced in conjunction with annual observation of National Weatherperson's Day











ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH) today named former National Hurricane Center (NHC) Director Max Mayfield "2015 National Weatherperson of the Year." Mr. Mayfield was selected for his exemplary forecasting skills and dedication to protecting the public during his 43-year career that includes service in the U.S. Air Force, National Weather Service, NOAA/National Hurricane Center, and his current position as Hurricane Specialist for WPLG Local 10 Miami. Mr. Mayfield's leadership as NHC Director during Hurricane Katrina and the infamous 2004-2005 hurricane seasons earned him widespread public acclaim and presidential recognition.
