Rescheduling Psychedelics: Scientific Evidence vs. Political Dynamics

LONDON, May 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

May 12 Screening and UK iTunes Release of Neurons to Nirvana Presents

Leading Researchers for an Open Conversation about Therapeutic Uses ofLSD, MDMA,

Psilocybin Mushrooms, Ayahuasca and Marijuana

NEURONS TO NIRVANA: UNDERSTANDING PSYCHEDELIC MEDICINES is a one-hour feature
documentary about the growing scientific, medical and cultural resurgence of psychedelics.
Through interviews with the world's foremost researchers, writers, psychologists and
pioneers in psychedelic psychotherapy, the film explores the history of five powerful
psychedelic substances (LSD, psilocybin, MDMA, ayahuasca and cannabis) and their
previously established medicinal potential. Strictly focusing on the science and medicinal
properties of these drugs, NEURONS TO NIRVANA looks into why our society has created such
a social and political bias against allowing research in treating some of today's most
challenging afflictions.

The screening will be followed by a live discussion with:

- Rick Doblin, Ph.D., founder and executive director of the
Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS)
- Prof. David Nutt, psychiatrist and neuropsychopharmacologist and author of
Drugs Without the Hot Air: Minimising the Harms of Legal and Illegal Drugs
- Amanda Feilding, founder and director of The Beckley Foundation

The evening is hosted by Giancarlo Canavesio, founder and CEO of

addressing the latest evidence, and creating new pathways for research into the
therapeutic benefits of psychedelic compounds.
