Call For Entries Announced For The 2014 NAMIC Excellence In Multicultural Marketing Awards

Eligibility For Awards Competition Expanded To Recognize Ethnically and Culturally Diverse Marketing Achievements Across Media And Entertainment

Entry Deadline Set For June 13, 2014

Winners To Be Honored At First-Ever Excellence In Multicultural Marketing Awards Luncheon Scheduled In Conjunction With 28th Annual NAMIC Conference

NEW YORK, May 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NAMIC (National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications) has initiated its call for entries for the next installment of the Excellence in Multicultural Marketing Awards (EMMA). Presented in conjunction with the Annual NAMIC Conference, the awards competition recognizes outstanding marketing efforts designed to attract and retain ethnically and culturally diverse audiences and customers including African American, Asian, Hispanic and LGBT market segments. Held as part of the cable industry's Diversity Week, the 28(th) Annual NAMIC Conference is scheduled for September 16-17, 2014 at the New York Marriott Marquis. Winners of the 2014 EMMA competition will be honored at a special luncheon to be held on Wednesday, September 17 during the Annual NAMIC Conference.

The EMMA recognizes the communications industry's commitment to implementing best practices, while developing creative, strategic and innovative multicultural marketing approaches. The NAMIC Multicultural Marketing Committee, a consortium of the industry's experts, provides guidance for the EMMA competition, which comprises two award categories: Case Studies/Campaigns and Marketing Tactics. Entries submitted in each category are judged within two divisions: Media Content Distributors and Networks & Communications Suppliers. Formerly categorized as "Cable Distributors," the newly renamed Media Content Distributors division has been expanded to allow award entries from a wider cross-section of marketing efforts created for all facets of media and entertainment.

"NAMIC is recognizing the changing environment in which brands, marketers and advertisers are striving to reach an increasingly diverse consumer base," said Alicin Williamson, interim president of NAMIC and principal, Raben Group. "As the new multicultural America emerges and business becomes more global, we look forward to recognizing the achievements of innovative creators that are influencing the marketplace."

A judging panel of industry marketing experts will evaluate entries and select all winners based on sound and innovative strategy, strength of execution against the strategy, evaluations of strategy, implementation and results. Deviating from the traditional "best of" competition method, each entry is judged against a standard of excellence and not against other entrants, resulting in the potential for zero to multiple winners in each category.

The Excellence in Multicultural Marketing Awards is presented in partnership with CableFAX. In addition to being honored at the 28(th) Annual NAMIC Conference, winners of the 2014 EMMA competition will be featured in the September edition of CableFAX: The Magazine. Marketing efforts executed between June 1, 2013 and May 31, 2014, targeting one or more cultural or ethnic segments are eligible. The entry deadline is June 13, 2014.
