Tribune Broadcasting Appoints Kristin Long As VP/Strategic Sales For Political and Issues Advocacy

CHICAGO, Jan. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tribune Broadcasting today announced the appointment of Kristin Long to the newly-created position of Vice President/Strategic Sales for Political and Issues Advocacy. Long will be responsible for overseeing advertising sales related to political and issues advocacy for the company's 42 owned or operated television stations across the country. Long will also be responsible for new business development. She will report to Tribune's President of Broadcast Media, Larry Wert, and begin her new duties immediately.

"Kristin will be a great resource for our station group," said Wert. "She's talented, innovative, has extensive political ad-buying experience, and understands how important political advertising is to the success of our broadcast group--it is especially gratifying to have her in place to work with clients as we head into an election year."

For the past five years, Long has served as the General Sales Manager for Tribune's Philadelphia television station, WPHL-TV (PHL17), overseeing all sales activities. Long has broad sales and managerial experience, having spent nearly twenty years at ABC National Television Sales in positions of increasing responsibility before joining PHL17. While there, she oversaw political ad sales for 10 ABC stations. In addition, Long served as project manager at Media AdVentures for John McCain's 2008 presidential bid.

"Tribune's broadcast group provides a great platform for political and issues advocacy," said Long. "We have a number of stations in important big-city markets in key battle-ground states like Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, and North Carolina. I expect our stations to play important roles in national, state, and local elections as candidates and issues-advocacy groups consider the best way to reach voters."
