Celebrity Mom Brooke Burke-Charvet Hosts Short Film Premiere at 2014 Sundance Film Festival
CHICAGO, Jan. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- These days, we're moving through life at turbo speed. We race through the things we love and often lack energy for the people we love. You could say Americans are in the midst of a Human Energy Crisis: people run out of energy even before they run out of time in their day(1). In fact, consumers cite personal energy issues as their leading concern in a global health trend report(2).

Enter The Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc., who is asking, "What would you do if you had the energy?" Quaker is exploring a fundamental issue that Americans face: a lack of energy for the people and passions that matter to them most. For 137 years, Quaker has helped nourish healthy families with good energy through the power of the oat - and in light of these "energy deficits," is taking on the Human Energy Crisis by providing wholesome, delicious and convenient products that delight the whole family.
"The oat is one of nature's most perfect energy sources," said Justin Lambeth, chief marketing officer, Quaker Foods North America. "In response to this human energy crisis, Quaker is on a mission to help mom by providing the good energy she wants as part of a holistic lifestyle plan, in conjunction with other choices such as enough sleep, exercise and 'me-time.' The idea is that one good choice leads to another."
Quaker at Sundance Film Festival
To further connect with today's mom about the Human Energy Crisis, Quaker collaborated with Sundance Film Festival alumni Jordan Vogt-Roberts to create an original short film depicting the Human Energy Crisis using real stories from moms and their families. Quaker premieres the short film today at the Quaker Good Energy Lodge brand experience at the Sundance Film Festival, with a screening hosted by celebrity mom, Brooke Burke-Charvet.
The film takes an intimate look into the lives of several American families, exploring how their energy levels affect their daily routines.
"As a busy mom with four kids and a career, I know that it's not always easy to maintain the balancing act," said Brooke Burke-Charvet. "And sometimes it's not a matter of time, but simply the energy to take on everything, from errands to the more precious moments like family outings or playtime in the backyard. Quaker's effort to shed light on this challenge that is so authentic to moms really hits home for me, and I encourage all moms to find the combination of solutions that help them manage their energy - for me, it's watching what I eat and choosing wholesome, whole grain foods, teaching my work out class or making sure I always have a bottle of water on hand to stay properly hydrated."
