NEW YORK, July 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Time Warner Cable (TWC), the second largest cable TV provider in the United States with over 15 million customers in 29 states, has been selected to receive the prestigious 2013 Award for Leadership in Hispanic Television. The award is presented by the publishers and editors of leading television industry publications Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News. Melinda Witmer, the cable TV company's EVP and Chief Video and Content Officer will accept this honor on behalf of Time Warner Cable's 53,000 employees. The award will be presented to Ms. Witmer during a Luncheon Ceremony at the 11(th) Annual Hispanic Television Summit at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel on Wednesday October 2, 2013.

Each year, one corporation or organization is selected to receive this award in recognition of that company's outstanding contributions in service to Hispanic television audiences. Time Warner Cable has established a long history of leadership in serving this audience through noteworthy accomplishments in its lineup of targeted programming choices, Hispanic marketing efforts, outstanding bilingual customer service, community outreach and its ranks of employees. Time Warner Cable also owns and operates NY1 Noticias in New York City and the nation's first Spanish-language Regional Sports Network, Time Warner Cable Deportes.

Time Warner Cable operates cable TV systems within some of this country's most populous Hispanic communities and serves millions of Hispanic customers. "With this year's event theme as Exploring the Exploding Hispanic Television Business, we're especially honored to award Time Warner Cable for its dedication to the Hispanic market," said Louis Hillelson, VP and Group Publisher of Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News. "We're equally honored to have Melinda Witmer, Time Warner's programming chief, accept this award on the company's behalf, since she and her team are dedicated to meeting the viewing needs of the rapidly growing Hispanic audience."
