Eminem and Alex Da Kid Are Executive Producers of Debut Album from KIDinaKORNER/Interscope

SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- "Wear Me Out," the latest track from Skylar Grey's soon-to-be-released debut album, Don't Look Down, is available today through all digital retailers from KIDinaKORNER/Interscope, and the music video for the track will premiere on June 11. The hotly anticipated album, executive produced by Eminem and Alex Da Kid, will be released on July 9.

"I am going back to my roots as a piano-driven singer-songwriter with this song," said Grey. "The song and the video were both inspired by events in my childhood, like sneaking out of the house to camp with my friends and flirt with boys."

On "Wear Me Out," Grey delivers an expertly crafted, soulful, sweet pop gem with just the right amount of "had enough" attitude. The music video was shot by Isaac Rentz, whom Grey also worked with for the video for "C'mon Let me Ride."

Don't Look Down will be a 12-track album featuring songs that trace Grey's life from rebellious childhood years to more recently as she struggled to find her place in the world, and they showcase Grey's dusky, ethereal voice and gift for haunting melodies, set to inventive, percussive beats. Tallying an impressive and growing total of nearly 15 million views since its release, Grey's fun and sarcastic first single, "C'mon Let Me Ride," was an instant hit and amassed more than 4 million views in just 72 hours after release.

Grey is a five-time GRAMMY-nominated singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who is responsible for co-writing some of the most memorable songs of the past decade to light up the Billboard charts, totaling more than 25 million singles globally, including the biggest selling single of 2010: Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie," which earned her GRAMMY Award nominations for Best Song and Best Rap Song of the Year. She also co-wrote and appeared on Dr. Dre's "I Need A Doctor," which she performed alongside Dre and Eminem on the 2011 GRAMMY Awards telecast and for which she was nominated for two GRAMMY Awards. Grey has been named one of Forbes magazine's '30 under 30' musicians in their 2012 special issue alongside Adele, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Drake and Bruno Mars. More recently, she also wrote CeeLo Green's latest single "Only You," and is a featured vocalist on the track "Love Bullets" on will.i.am's recent solo album #willpower from Interscope Records.

Grey's journey to this point has been studded with highs and lows. She was born Holly Brook Hafermann in the village of Mazomanie, Wisconsin, a town so tiny it does not have a stoplight. Grey began performing professionally at age six with her mother as a folk duo, and by the age of 14 had released three independent albums. In middle school, exhausted from the ridicule by her peers, Grey went solo and began writing her own music, eventually quitting high school her junior year to move to Los Angeles and devote herself to becoming a serious artist. After releasing a major label solo album as Holly Brook in 2006 that didn't accurately reflect Grey, she asked to end her recording deal and took to the road with Duncan Sheik, playing keyboards in his band as an outlet to express herself musically. She worked her way up the California central coast, eventually settling in Oregon, isolating herself in a cabin in the woods where she again began writing music. This adventure inspired the name change and allowed Grey to evolve as an artist, musician and songwriter and has led her to produce a comprehensive album reflecting her personality in every fulfilling way she has dreamed.
