Nayak Demonstrates How to Recycle More Plastics in the Home and Design with Recycled Plastic Products--Includes Chance to Win $500 Gift Card

WASHINGTON, June 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- This summer, Plastics Make it Possible(®) has teamed up with popular designer and television personality Taniya Nayak to launch a video series on recycling more plastics in the home and designing with recycled plastic products. In the exclusive "Recycling Makeover" video series launched today on the Plastics Make it Possible(®) website, Taniya makes over a Southern California home to demonstrate how easy it is to incorporate more plastics recycling into our daily lives and to use products made with recycled plastics to create a brighter, "greener" living space.

Viewers of the videos also can enter to win one of three $250 gift cards--plus a $500 gift card coupled with a design consultation with Taniya.

Best known for her roles on HGTV's Designed to Sell and House Hunters on Vacation, as well as Food Network's Restaurant: Impossible, Taniya uses her design expertise to help people rethink their living spaces and make it easier to recycle everyday plastics throughout the home. Taniya also shows viewers how to make over the look of a room or patio using attractive furniture and decorative accents made with recycled plastics--demonstrating that great design can be good for the environment.

While many people focus on recycling in the kitchen, recyclable plastics are found throughout the home. For example, containers for shampoo, lotion, soap, hair gel, and mouthwash often are made with the same types of plastics as food packaging--and they're just as easy to recycle. Many of the plastics used while entertaining outdoors often can be recycled, such as condiment bottles, beverage bottles, containers for sour cream and dip, and even bags for hot dog and hamburger buns. These plastics become the raw materials for making new products, from outdoor furniture to kitchenware to fashionable clothing.

Future videos in the series will focus on the kitchen, living room, and bathroom.
