My Friend's Place Elects Original Productions' CEO & EP Philip D. Segal to Board of Directors
Non-Profit Celebrating 25 years Helping Homeless Youth in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of My Friend's Place (MFP) has unanimously elected Philip D. Segal, Original Productions CEO & Executive Producer, to their Board. The announcement was made by Rod Barr, Co-President of the Board of Directors of My Friend's Place. "Everyone is impressed by Phil's passion for My Friend's Place and his willingness to bring his energy and expertise to bear upon the problem of youth homelessness," said Barr.
Segal joins the Board during the 25(th) Anniversary Celebration year and will work with Board member Kevin Beggs, Chairman of the Development and Event Committees. My Friend's Place will host a major fund raising gala, "A Cause for Celebration" on Wednesday evening, October 23(rd), at Drais Hollywood at the W Hotel.

His business leadership will definitely assist us in furthering our mission," said Heather Carmichael, LCSW, Executive Director of MFP. The dedicated professional staff and extraordinary MFP volunteers served 1,673 individuals last year, nearly half of the homeless youth population in Los Angeles. Additionally, MFP provided nearly 20,000 meals, and 700 linkages to medical care.

Founded 25 years ago in 1988, My Friend's Place's mission is to assist and inspire homeless youth to build self-sufficient lives. The non-profit, 501C(3) corporation began by serving meals once a week from trunks of cars. Today MFP is a dynamic resource center offering a comprehensive continuum of services to homeless youth and their children between the ages of 12 and 25.
