The documentary "Free China: The Courage to Believe" examines the widespread human rights violations in China through the stories of Jennifer Zeng and Dr. Charles Lee, who along with hundreds of thousands of peaceful citizens are imprisoned and tortured for their spiritual beliefs and their practice of Falun Gong, a type of Taoist and Buddhist meditation practice. The Chinese Communist party began a crackdown on the Falun Gong in the 1990s when their members exceeded the Communist Party membership. The documentary tells of those who were arrested, tortured, and forced into slave labor. It describes the growing protests inside China and the re-emergence of traditional Chinese culture and spirituality in a changing China.
