ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Nov. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq: MSCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, today announced industry leader VIZIO, Inc. has utilized Microsemi's LED backlight driver for its E-Series 60-inch and 70-inch Class Razor LED((TM)) Smart TVs (E601i-A3 and E701i-A3 respectively).

VIZIO's highly-rated E601i-A3 and E701i-A3 which will launch this month feature an ultra-thin, slim-frame design, brilliant 1080p Full HD LED* quality and VIZIO Internet Apps. Operating at a remarkably low 84 watts, the E601i-A3 meets Energy Star power consumption requirements while providing superior performance display characteristics. Numerous reviews praise the E601i-A3 for exceeding the video performance and black level fidelity of competitive products, and delivering them at significantly more attractive price points.

Incorporated into VIZIO'S E601i-A3 and E701i-A3 is Microsemi's LX27901LED backlight driver. Based on the LCD Integrated Power Supply (LIPS) architecture, the LX27901 combines a television's main power supply with the LED driver on one printed circuit board, increasing power efficiency while enhancing backlight performance and lowering total solution cost.
