In supporting the Red Cross campaign, Adkins is encouraging people to look beyond material gifts this holiday season and instead consider giving charitable donations, sending cards for military heroes or donating life-saving blood.

"When my home was claimed by fire last year, the Red Cross was among the first on-site. They looked after my family when I couldn't be there and offered to help in any way they could. We were fortunate because we only lost 'things' that could be replaced. That's not the case for every victim of disaster and that's when the Red Cross steps in. From personal experience, I am supporting the Red Cross and their work to unite families and aid in times of need," says Adkins.

The Red Cross giving campaign features an online catalog that enables people to make a tax-deductible charitable donation this holiday season that help provide items such as food and shelter for disaster victims, military comfort kits, or basic necessities for families who have lost everything in a disaster. It also encourages people to make a blood donation during the holiday season.

Adkins and the Red Cross also are encouraging individuals and families to take a moment to send words of thanks to members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families, through the Holiday Mail for Heroes program. The Red Cross will begin collecting cards today and will distribute them in the United States and at military installations overseas throughout the holiday season. Adkins recently recorded several radio PSAs for the American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes program with his new song, "Tough People Do," which will appear on his upcoming album on Show Dog-Universal (release date and title to be announced).

"Trace Adkins is a superstar who knows - and lives - the importance of giving back to help those in need, and we are honored to have him supporting the Red Cross holiday campaign," said Gail McGovern, Red Cross president and CEO. "We appreciate Trace's incredible commitment to the Red Cross within the Nashville community and across our nation."

Adkins has also joined the Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet, lending his name to the impressive roster of more than 40 other charitable celebrities such as Jamie Lee Curtis, LL Cool J and Josh Duhamel.
