Tenor Anthony Kearns to Sing the National Anthem at The Washington Redskins' Second Home Game at FedExField on Sunday, October 7, 2012

WASHINGTON, Oct. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Anthony Kearns of The Irish Tenors will sing The National Anthem as the guest of the Washington Redskins this Sunday, October 7, 2012 when they take on the Atlanta Falcons at FedExField in Landover, MD. Kearns will sing at approx. 12:58 p.m. before game kick-off.

"I'm delighted to sing at the Redskins game this weekend -- and I'm especially excited to see their new starting quarterback, 'RG3' in action," said Mr. Kearns, referring to Robert Griffin III, also known as RG3, who is the Redskins' no. 2 draft pick and 2011 Heisman Trophy winner.

Kearns himself recently won the hearts of many American football fans when he sang last August during the "Notre Dame: A Welcome Home Celebration" before the Notre Dame vs. Navy Game in Dublin, Ireland. He also sang during the Military Tribute at the 137th Preakness Stakes, where trainer Doug O'Neill's horse, I'll Have Another, won the second leg of the Triple Crown. Some fans speculated that the Irish-born singer may have brought a bit of the "luck of the Irish" to Irish American, Doug O'Neill's horse.

Redskins fans hope that Kearns' luck will be with the Redskins and their Irish-American coach, Mike Shanahan, to boost their team's chances against a tough 4-0 Falcons team.

Mr. Kearns has a growing reputation as "Washington's Tenor," for his many performances in the area, such as: singing at The Music Center at Strathmore; for the 2010 National Memorial Day Parade's "Moment of Remembrance;" at a concert dedicated to America's military troops at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; at a military benefit in Washington, D.C. honoring Governor Martin O'Malley (MD), Governor Bob McDonnell (VA), and others; twice performing at the New Zealand Embassy to benefit the USO and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund; and being featured in Wolf Trap's 40th Anniversary video along with Tony Bennett and others. (Kearns has performed at Wolf Trap seven times in recent years.)

Kearns took the American television audience by storm in 1999 as the youngest member of the wildly popular musical group, The Irish Tenors. Acknowledged as 'Ireland's Finest Tenor' at the Dublin National Concert Hall's Silver Jubilee in 2006, Mr. Kearns is a respected ambassador of Ireland to the world and has presented the music of his homeland across the globe. Kearns frequently performs at charity concerts, on television, and with the finest symphony orchestras and opera houses in Europe and America. He is a member of The Recording Academy ("The GRAMMYs"). His music can be found at Anthony Kearns Music.
