Documentary Film "Everything is Incredible" Goes Viral - Follows a Honduran Man Who Built a Helicopter from Trash
SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- "The problem is, everything is incredible and people don't accept it." The Rise Institute's short film, Everything Is Incredible, went viral last month on Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/35545694) and is inspiring people all over the world with a Honduran man's story of his impossible dream. Agustin, a poor, disabled shoemaker has spent over 50 years making a helicopter out of rebar, 2x4's, bicycle parts, and trash.
Film producer/director trio Tyler Bastian, Trevor Hill, and Tim Skousen set out to inspire and uplift others with an incredible story of hope and dreams in the face of adversity.
As Ben Okri said: "The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than our suffering."
The documentary seems to have tapped into this powerful universal truth. Christopher Jobson of This is Colossal watched the film a year ago and turned to Jason Sondi to track it down on Vimeo. Soon after, Casey Chan of Gizmodo wrote about the film stating, "It's pretty freaking incredible."
Shortly thereafter, over 250,000 people have watched the film. The following comments are from Vimeo users:
Brad Kugler, "Amazing, inspiring and so simple = beauty."
Carola Rodrigues, "...the images, the light, his face, gorgeous. Tears in my eyes."
Titus-Armand, "Not sure if sad or totally awesome."
Jerome Ostrogorsky, "I am inspired by this man, ashamed of my not-problems-after-all problems, and jealous of his secret to happiness."
Rahul Alindib, "I have never ever been touched so much by a film or visual work, ever in my life."
Matthew Potter, "His helicopter does work, it made me fly. This is how you change the world."
Everything Is Incredible won the following film festival awards this year: Anthem Film Festival, Excellence in Filmmaking Award; Cinequest, Best Documentary Short; Logan Film Festival, Best Documentary Short; DC Shorts Film Festival, Festival Directors Choice.
Within a week of going viral, The Rise Institute has signed a non-exclusive distribution deal with San Francisco-based, Global Oneness Project, who works with films "that challenge us to rethink our relationship to the world."
Challenge us, it does. Yet, Agustin and his helicopter truly remind us that everything is incredible.
