AUSTIN, Texas and Kansas City, Kan., Oct. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Crowfly Pictures Entertainment, Through The Fog Pictures and the Kansas International Film Festival announced today that the inspirational film "DAVE," directed by Eric Geadelmann, will be released theatrically at the Glenwood Arts Theater as a result of winning the Audience Award for Best Feature Documentary at the recent Kansas International Film Festival, where it was also one of five Jury Award Finalists.
Produced from 2006 to 2012, "DAVE" is the hope filled story of Adam Donyes, an unlikely young mentor that uses basketball to shepherd an intellectually disabled minority teen (David Sterling) and in turn is led into beginning to heal the broken pieces in his own life.
Eric Geadelmann, the director & producer of the film expressed, "Naturally we are thrilled with winning the award but most excited that more people will have the opportunity to experience this life affirming story as a result of the festival's commitment to creating opportunities for independent cinema. Our producing team is very thankful for the Kansas International Film Festival and the Glenwood Arts Theater."
Executive Producer, Toby Mckeehan, a mutli-platinum and multi- Grammy award winning singer/songwriter whose recently released "I Eye On It" had a #1 debut on the Billboard Music Charts added, "Our goal is to go beyond just making audiences feel good, but to truly inspire and enable them to be intentional in society - in investing in the lives of others. DAVE points us in that direction."
Presently on the international film festival circuit, "DAVE" previously won the coveted Kaiser Permanente THRIVE AWARD for best/most inspirational picture at the 22(nd) Annual Cinequest Film Festival and has been a finalist for multiple Jury Awards at various international festivals since it World Premiered in March. "DAVE" is currently screening at the Heartland Film Festival and will participate in the upcoming Virginia Film Festival and Santa Fe International Film Festival.
"DAVE" will run for one week at the Glenwood Arts Theater (www.fineartsgroup.com), 9575 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS (October 25-30). Proceeds from the release will be used to launch TEAM 55, an early stage philanthropic endeavor created by the film's producers committed to inspiring and enabling mentorship programs for teens. The name "Team 55" is derived from the number that Dave Sterling wore as a basketball player for the Hollister Tigers.
