Tenor Anthony Kearns to Perform at the Bell Cultural Events Center on Saturday, September 15, 2012

OLATHE, Kan., Sept. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tenor Anthony Kearns returns to Kansas City for a live performance this Saturday night, September 15, 2012 at the Bell Cultural Events Center at the MidAmerica Nazarene University. The concert is from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

Mr. Kearns, a founding member of The Irish Tenors, joins forces with Dale Morehouse, chair of the Vocal Studies Division and associate professor of voice (opera) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Conservatory of Music.

"We are excited to showcase Mr. Kearns' remarkable talent for what will be a sensational evening of music," Karen Phillips of the Bell Cultural Events Center said.

Phillips said Kearns' powerful cameo appearance at Union Station Kansas City's Grand Opening Gala for "Titanic: The Artifacts Exhibit" last spring was a "sneak preview of what we can expect to experience on Saturday night."

Kearns has been astounding audiences with his incredible vocal abilities, technique and range. In 2006, he was acknowledged as "Ireland's Finest Tenor" at the Dublin National Concert Hall's Silver Jubilee. He was named "Best Irish Tenor" in 2010 by the Irish Music Association based in Independence, Mo.

"I'm delighted to perform at the state-of-the-art Bell Cultural Events Center," Mr. Kearns said, noting that his music will feature favorite and classical songs, with "something to please everyone." Since 2007, the Bell Cultural Events Center has welcomed artists such as Preservation Hall Jazz Band, tenors Nathan Granner and Ben Gulley, pianists Nielson and Young, and the Kiev Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, among others.

Kearns teamed up with Morehouse at a concert in North Kansas City last spring with meteorologist Joe Lauria of Fox4 as emcee. Honored guests included Kathy Quinn, award-winning journalist with Fox4; Donald Quinn, founder of the Kansas City John McCormack Society; Charles Bruffy, Kansas City Symphony Chorus Director and winner of a 2008 Grammy Award; and others.

Kearns recently performed at "Notre Dame: A Welcome Home" celebration in anticipation of the Notre Dame v. Navy game in Dublin. Last May, he sang "God Bless America" during the Special Military Tribute of the 137th Preakness. In June, he was featured in Gioachino Rossini's masterpiece, Petite Messe Solennelle, at the St. Carthage's Cathedral in Lismore, Ireland. He also performed with legendary flutist and David Brophy with the Ulster Orchestra at the James Galway Prom in Belfast.

Mr. Kearns has starred in five PBS specials and has 10 CDs with The Irish Tenors, considered to be one of PBS' most successful acts to date. He is a member of The Recording Academy ("The GRAMMYs"). His music can be found at www.anthonykearnsmusic.com.
