Met With Protests In NYC Debut, 2016: Obama's America Opens At #10 In Per-Screen Average

Success Fuels Nationwide Expansion This Weekend

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --Schindler's List producer Gerald R. Molen's latest film, 2016: Obama's America, scored a major triumph at the box office this past weekend with a whopping $5,202 per screen average, making it the #10 film in the county on a per screen average basis. Making its debut in New York city, the film drew protests outside the theater including a man who carried a sign that read: "This is the movie Obama do not want you to see--why not? You was not going to vote for Obama anyway." Because of strong word of mouth, the film is set to expand on August 17(th) into 400 theaters and 700 theaters or more on the 24(th).

Written and directed by noted author Dinesh D'Souza and based on his books, "The Roots Of Obama's Rage" and "Obama's America," the film examines the president's background, taking an in-depth look at where he came from and what he believes. The production was filmed on four continents and features on-camera interviews with people who knew Barack Obama, including his Kenyan half-brother, George Obama, friends of his mother Stanley Ann Dunham and Barack Obama Sr.'s lifelong friend, Philip Ochieng.

"When I wrote the books I couldn't have imagined that they would be translated so effectively to the big screen by Gerald Molen and others," noted D'Souza. "Nor could I have expected the response from the audience that I've been receiving. I'm looking forward to the film's expansion all across America."

"More than anything else, we want to have an informed electorate come election day and it's my sincere hope that every American will come and see the film in order to be better informed about the choice we all face," noted Molen whose other production credits have included Minority Report, Jurassic Park and others.
