BURN, The Award-Winning Detroit Firefighter Documentary, Premieres At The Fillmore Detroit Sept. 28 Presented By The Detroit Free Press
DETROIT, Aug. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The critically acclaimed film 'BURN,' a feature-length documentary about Detroit and told through the eyes of the city's beleaguered firefighters, will receive its Motor City premiere on Friday, Sept. 28, at the Fillmore Detroit in downtown Detroit. A Q&A with director/producers Tom Putnam and Brenna Sanchez and Detroit firefighters from the film will be hosted by Detroit Free Press Editorial Page Editor Stephen Henderson immediately following the showing.
The film centers on the crew of Engine Company 50, one of the busiest firehouses in America, and tells the story of the extraordinary challenges faced by these exceptional individuals. 'BURN' premiered in April at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City and won the festival's Audience Award.
"After seeing the tremendous response the film has generated with audiences in other cities, I'm thrilled to finally be bringing 'BURN' home to Detroit," said Detroit native Brenna Sanchez, the film's director and producer with Tom Putnam. "Now everyone can see what we saw while making the film, that these firefighters are real-life action heroes far beyond Schwarzenegger and Stallone," said Putnam.
Said Paul Anger, editor and publisher of the Free Press:
"We appreciate great story-telling -- and we're pleased to help shed light on the risks and challenges Detroit firefighters face, day in and day out."
Doors open at 6 p.m. for the Sept. 28 premiere, with the movie at 8 p.m. The Q&A session hosted by the Detroit Free Press will start immediately following the showing at 9:30 p.m.
Tickets for the premiere go on sale at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. Prices range from $25-$50. Tickets are available at 800-745-3000, or livenation.com, ticketmaster.com. Tickets also can be purchased at The Fillmore two hours prior to any show and from noon-6 p.m. Fridays, and at St. Andrew's Hall from noon-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
This is an 18-and-older event. More screenings are expected to be announced soon.
