The book that inspired Telemundo's new hit telenovela Pablo Escobar, el patron del mal, is now available in the United States

MIAMI, July 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The book that inspired Telemundo's new hit telenovela "Pablo Escobar, el patron del mal" will be published by editorial Aguilar under the same name. The telenovela, which began airing in the US on July 9th, tells the story of Colombian drug Lord Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria, labeled by the DEA as one of the greatest criminals in history.

The telenovela became an overnight success with ratings placing it in second place, just behind Telemundo's historical top spot occupied by "La reina del sur." According to the network, the premier episode had an audience of 2.8 million, 5.8 million Twitter- and 1 million Facebook-impressions. In addition, the telenovela gained the number one position in viewership numbers in the 10PM slot for both, English and Spanish language programming in New York and Miami.

The telenovela is based on the original work by Alonso Salazar, who dug into archives and searched for previously unrevealed testimonies to weave a riveting portrait of the life of one of the deadliest criminals of the end of the 20th century. Pablo Escobar, el patron del mal will be available in bookstores nationwide next week.
