Cell On Light Truck Will Enable Customers Visiting Annual Music Event to Capture and Share Favorite Moments

MT. UNION, Pa., June 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless has installed a temporary cell site--called a COLT, or Cell On Light Truck--on the Agape Farm in Huntingdon County, to provide additional network coverage, including its blazingly fast 4G LTE, in anticipation of the thousands of visitors expected to flock to the region for the 34(th) Annual Creation Festival Northeast event (June 27( )through June 30).

This will be the first year that 4G LTE technology is available for smartphone and tablet users at the Creation Festival, offering the fastest data speeds available for the many Verizon Wireless customers among the anticipated 80,000 attending the four-day event.

"Our COLT will help our customers visiting the festival share their favorite moments and stay connected throughout the weekend activities," said Mark Frazier-president, Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region, Verizon Wireless. "In past years, the Creation Festival has drawn more than 80,000 attendees. At large events like these, we look at how our customers' usage patterns are changing and increasing, and utilize this information to make sure we stay well ahead of their demand."

The COLT is a fully functional, generator-powered cell site, which has the same call capacity as a freestanding cell site.On-site network improvements, including the enhanced coverage around Agape Farm, are part of Verizon Wireless' continual efforts to expand coverage, improve capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Pennsylvania and throughout the country.

Customers in the area for the festival can use 4G LTE wireless devices to access the Internet faster; listen to music or watch video on their phones; use thousands of apps; and stay in touch with family and friends, all with speeds up to 10 times faster than before.

The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network is available to more than two-thirds of the U.S. population in 304 markets across the country and offers more than six times the geographic coverage of its nearest competitor's 4G LTE network. Verizon Wireless customers looking to experience the nation's fastest 4G network can choose from the largest selection of 4G LTE devices, ranging from tablets, mobile hotspots, smartphones and more.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
