Clickspring Design Awarded Prestigious BDA GOLD Award
North American Gold Award for Set Design
NEW YORK, June 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Clickspring Design was awarded the North American BDA Gold award for Set Design at PromaxBDA's International Conference Awards Party, held at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles on June 14. PromaxBDA is the world's leading association of broadcast and multimedia designers, and the BDA awards are considered the most prestigious for creative endeavors in this field.
The award was for NBC'S Studio 3B: NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and Rock Center. NBC's Studio 3B serves as home to two distinct broadcast genres: hard news and a magazine format. The unifying factor is anchor Brian Williams, and Studio 3B was designed to reflect Brian's professional persona: a world class journalist covering the major news stories of the day, who is also known for his playfulness, curiosity, and sense of humor. Studio 3B reflects this dual approach to broadcast news from a design and production stand point.
NBC Nightly News, occupying one side of the studio, is the highest rated broadcast news program in the United States. The environment maintains the sense of a world-class news gathering operation, while offering a greater variety of camera shots, and incorporates the latest technology and multiple monitors in its coverage of the day's biggest stories.
The less formal environment of Rock Center on the opposite side of the studio embraces the easy-going side of Brian Williams. The stage is set for more personal, intimate interviews. Wood flooring and paneling lend a warm, familiar feel to the environment, and soft seating invites engagement. NBC's legacy is suggested by the memorabilia lining the bookcases, including an old NBC "APPLAUSE" sign, and the familiar RCA dog, Nipper. Rear projection screens envelop that corner of the studio, offering unlimited backdrop opportunities. A sense of destination, achieved by a cityscape of dazzling skyscrapers, underscores that this program is broadcast from NBC's media headquarters in the heart of Manhattan.
The Clickspring team, led by principal Erik Ulfers and VP of Design Bryan Higgason, included designers Kevin Kievit, Christine DeWitte and Executive Producer Lori Nadler. The NBC/MSNBC team included Marc Greenstein, Brett Holey, Adam Benalt, Christin Kennelly, Jeff Taylor, and Tom Popple.
Clickspring is an international design firm based in New York that designs branded consumer environments. This is the fifth BDA award for Clickspring. For more information visit www.clickspringdesign.com.
