Film Features Hollywood Icon Mickey Rooney and Narration by Artie Pasquale of "The Sopranos"
NEW YORK, April 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- "Last Will and Embezzlement," a documentary on elder abuse created by Starjack Entertainment and sponsored by Fox Rehabilitation, will hold its Manhattan premiere on Friday, April 13 at 7:30 pm at The Quad Cinema, 34 West 13th Street in New York. The screening kicks off with red-carpet guests and interviews at 5:30 pm, including narrator Artie Pasquale from "The Sopranos." Screenings will continue daily at 1 pm and 7:30 pm through April 19th. Tickets are $11 and can be purchased at the door.
The film, by producers Pamela S. K. Glasner and Deborah Louise Robinson, looks at the rise of financial exploitation of the elderly. It features Mickey Rooney, who has said he is a victim of elder abuse and has been granted court protection from two stepchildren. The documentary also tells the story of Glasner's family. Her father, who was cognitively impaired and lived in a nursing home, was approached by a stranger and asked to sign a form. The form legally turned over the father's assets to the stranger.
"When we heard about the stories in this film, we knew we wanted to help it find a wide audience," says Tim Fox, founder and CEO of Fox Rehabilitation, which specializes in occupational, speech and physical therapy for older adults. "The older adult population in the U.S. is growing. With that growth has come an increase in elder abuse and exploitation. We hope the film will raise awareness about these issues."
"Last Will and Embezzlement" will make its Los Angeles debut later this year. View the film's trailer at http://www.lastwillandembezzlement.com/trailer.html.
