Immigration Policy Focus of Two-Day Capitol Hill Live Media Broadcast

Immigration Policy Focus of Two-Day Capitol Hill Live Media Broadcast

50 Radio Hosts, Members of Congress, Law Enforcement Gather to Debate/Discuss

WASHINGTON, April 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The nation's largest annual immigration-media event, Hold Their Feet to the Fire 2012 takes place May 8 and 9 at the Phoenix Park Hotel, 520 North Capitol Street in Washington, D.C. Fifty radio hosts from across the country will broadcast their shows live from the event while interviewing members of Congress, law enforcement officials, state lawmakers, experts, journalists, activists and citizens burdened by the cost and harm of illegal immigration.

Since the spring of 2007 when Hold Their Feet to the Fire successfully helped defeat the Senate Amnesty Bill, the event has doubled in size each year due to mounting public concerns about illegal immigration and talk radio's expanding influence on the public policy process. This year's event is expected to be the largest yet given the election year focus on immigration, robust legislative action at the state level and speculation the Supreme Court's recent oral arguments on Arizona SB-1070 may result in a favorable ruling in June, creating an opportunity for other states to follow with similar bills.

"Hold Their Feet to the Fire is the best opportunity each year for the public, media and lawmakers to educate and engage one another in a live broadcast forum that reaches millions of Americans," said Bob Dane, Communications Director for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). "This year, that dialogue is critical. The Obama administration is dismantling interior enforcement at a frightening pace and is using backdoor methods to grant amnesty to thousands of illegal aliens. May is the ideal time to set clear expectations for candidates of all stripes. Responsive politicians respect and listen to the electronic town hall of talk radio and Hold Their Feet to the Fire is the yearly bellwether of public sentiment on the issue."
