Directed by award-winning Mexican filmmaker Gerardo Tort, the documentary chronicles the epic events of May 5, 1862

MIAMI, April 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, Discovery en Espanol will premiere its original production "5 de mayo: un dia de gloria" on Sunday, April 29 at 10 PM ET/ PT. The docudrama, explores the historical events of this epic battle, a symbol of the triumphal resistance of the Mexican people over the French army.

The documentary, directed by Mexican filmmaker Gerardo Tort, winner of 11 Mexican Academy of Film "Ariel" Awards, retells the story of one of the most decisive moments in Mexican history, combining faithful reenactments and the testimony of renowned researchers and historians. "5 de mayo: un dia de gloria" was filmed at different locations in Puebla, such as the historic Hacienda Micuautla, Fuerte Guadalupe, and the Museo del Alfenique, perfect settings to recreate the events of that fateful day on May the 5th.
