Andrew Geddis, Renowned Classical Guitarist, Steps Out as Entrepreneur With His Young Company, Musica Elysii, Inc.

NEW YORK, April 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Andrew Geddis founded Musica Elysii, Inc. in January of 2010 as the corporate entity that would support and be the vehicle through which he would share his music with the general public. In the earliest days it was through volunteering at various nursing homes and retirement communities in the NYC area that Mr. Geddis first began to reacquaint himself with those who appreciate classical guitar music, and not long after he would be hired as a volunteer member of the staff at St. Luke's Hospital on Amsterdam Avenue playing for the patients on Clark 9, the unit that serves elderly psychiatric patients.

Though this was in a sense a somewhat daunting and at times emotionally distressing task, he found it to be quite rewarding in that he could reach out to the patients and give them some ease and enjoyment, helping them to see beyond their circumstance and find a real meaning to their condition. In his own words, "To communicate with someone who may not be able to speak, share beautiful music with them, and see the joy and happiness on their faces is all the reward in the world." Regarding his "little miracles" as he likes to call them, the director of recreation at one of the first nursing home/retirement communities he played for left a message for him the next day stating, "you gave that woman everything she needed without any pharmacological anything; it's just the power of music and you have the magic touch. You add so greatly to the quality of life for all of our residents."

Not long after this he would develop an excellent working relationship with the New York Public Library by winning the Arts Fund Grant offered by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Bronx Council on the Arts. This grant was used to secure three recitals in the Bronx which were followed by five more and then, in the third series, two were performed in the Bronx and three in Manhattan. He won the AFG again in 2012, will perform five more recitals with the NYPL, and was awarded a seed grant with his business plan, which included valuable time working with arts marketing consultant Susan Schear, president of Artisin LLC. They continue their relationship and are working together to share his music with as many as possible.

Mr. Geddis has received wide acclaim and attention as a classical guitarist, first being introduced to the world through his work with Grammy-nominated basso Kevin Maynor. Their recording, "Paul Robeson Remembered," on the Fleur de Son label, has been featured on every major classical radio station in the world and came very close to being nominated for a Grammy itself. Fanfare magazine has ranked Mr. Maynor among the very greatest bass voices of the 20th century and says that Mr. Geddis' guitar "adds life" to "John Henry" and "Hammer Song."

Mr. Geddis is using his standing in the music world and the protection and influence he receives as a corporation to develop and expand his creative efforts into wholly new forms of expression.
