Bob Circosta Receives First 'HSN Legend' Award

Network's first host, who has individually sold over $1 billion in merchandise, receives honor

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., March 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Bob Circosta, TV's first home shopping host, has been awarded the first-ever "HSN Legend" honor by HSN, Inc., reflecting his pioneering and trendsetting work in the electronic retailing industry.

The award, presented at HSN's annual awards gala on March 8, was created to honor individuals who have had a major long-term impact on HSN's success, while also making significant contributions to the industry.

Circosta certainly qualifies on both counts. Bob was part of the birth of electronic retailing: The roots of HSN go back to a day in 1977 when Circosta sold avocado green can openers on the air at a Clearwater, Fla. radio station for owner Lowell "Bud" Paxson. That led to a popular radio sales show, then to the birth of TV retailing in 1982 with the launch of what was then called the Home Shopping Club, as Circosta hosted the first show.

And in the 35 years since then, Bob has done over 25,000 hours of live selling on TV, making more than 75,000 separate product demonstrations and selling over $1 billion worth of merchandise.
