Legendary Impresario Sir Cameron Mackintosh Hails Sony's Ramin, a Pop Sensation for 2012

Legendary Impresario Sir Cameron Mackintosh Hails Sony's Ramin, a Pop Sensation for 2012

LONDON, January 27, 2012/PRNewswire/ --

The legendary Impresario Sir Cameron Mackintosh was the special guest at a star
studded album launch of Sony Music's new signing 'Ramin' on Tuesday night at London's Cafe
De Paris. Mackintosh launched the pop career of Ramin who has starred in many of his
recent productions such as Les Miserables and Phantom, at the event, saying that he is a
'remarkable artist' but joked that he hoped Ramin doesn't become too successful in his pop
career- where he is already being compared with the likes of Michael Buble - as it will be
a great loss to the West End. In many ways it is Mackintosh who has set Ramin on the road
to music success having given Ramin the unique opportunity on two occasions to re-audition
for parts as Mackintosh could see the true potential underneath what was initially a raw
talent.

Sir Cameron Mackintosh related a story about Ramin from his casting director Trevor
Jackson, which underlined that it was truly a story of third time lucky for the West End
Star and why Mackintosh really sees Ramin as a star for 2012. He read from a note written
by Trevor to highlight the talent he can see in him -

"The thing that stands out about Ramin's Cameron Mackintosh career is that on two
occasions he was shown unsuccessfully to me for principle roles and Cameron instead of
just saying no which he would normally do, made us take him away for a week, rework him
and bring him back. I've never known him do this with any other artist, I think it was
because how ever unfocussed Ramin's talent was then [in the early stages of his musical
career], Cameron could always perceive there was something special and unique about him."

Having read from Trevor's note Macintosh then went on to state that -

"Ramin is not only a remarkable artist but also a very remarkable person and one I
have been very lucky to consider a friend as well as having had him in my shows so many
times." He finished off by saying... "I hope this new recording career works for him very
well but not too much that he won't be able to come back to the West End stage."
