UTI Foundation's 2011 Drive to Succeed Video Competition Gives High School Seniors a Chance to Earn Scholarships and Auto Shop Upgrades

PHOENIX, Oct. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The 2011 Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation Drive to Succeed Video Competition features two contests - Why I Want to Be a Technician and Why My High School Auto Shop Needs a Make-Over. Both contests will run through November 30, 2011. Students will upload videos to the UTI Foundation's Facebook® page at http://www.facebook.com/UTIFoundation, and a combination of Drive To Succeed Committee judging and online votes will be used to determine the winners of each contest.

The Why I Want to Be a Technician Contest is open to high school seniors across the country interested in careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians. The student who submits the winning video entry will earn a $25,000 scholarship to any Universal Technical Institute campus. All it takes to win is a video camera, creativity and a compelling story. A $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to the second place winner, and the third place winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship.

Students and instructors can enter the Why My High School Auto Shop Needs a Make-Over Contest to win new shop tools and technology thanks to sponsors like Snap-On®. Schools will be awarded $25,000, $10,000, and $5,000 in shop upgrades for the first place, second place, and third place winners, respectively.

The video competition serves as a kick-off to the second annual Drive To Succeed event taking place at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving on March 31, 2012 in Chandler, Arizona.
