Talk Therapy TV to Host New York's First Ever Behavioral Health Recognition Month Celebration at the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum
NEW YORK, Oct. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Sunday, October 9, 2011, Talk Therapy Television in partnership with the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum will host the inaugural Behavioral Health Recognition Month Celebration from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum.
The event observes the joint proclamation by the NYS Senate and NYS Assembly of October 2011 as New York's first ever Behavioral Health Recognition Month; bringing together the fields of mental illness and addictions to spread awareness and education about these important issues.
The event is open to the public and is totally free, featuring a jam-packed schedule of inspirational speakers and unique live musical performances. Thousands of individuals in treatment or recovery from mental illnesses or addictions and their family, friends, and supporters are expected to attend and participate.
Featured speakers include Kathryn Power, Director of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) Center for Mental Health Services; Dr. Jaime Torres, Regional Director of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS); Brigadier General (retired) Loree K. Sutton, former highest ranking psychiatrist in the U.S. Army; Dr. Lloyd I. Sederer, Medical Director of the NYS Office of Mental Health; and many others.
Entertainment at this unique behavioral health gathering includes performances by Rockstar-Superstar's Rockin' Recovery Tour featuring twin brother rockers who are rebranding sobriety with their unique message delivered through their original rock songs. Tori Wilson, an eleven year old singer/songwriter will perform her original songs about bullying and self-esteem.
