Esperanza Spalding Donates Dress to the National Museum of American History
WHAT: Esperanza Spalding will donate the dress she wore for her performance at the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony for President Barack Obama to the National Museum of American History.

The National Museum of American History will be collecting from Esperanza Spalding as part of the museum's women in jazz initiative, which began in April with Jazz Appreciation Month 2011.
In 2009, Spalding performed at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway, at the invitation of President Obama. Spalding was most recently recognized for her musical talents in February 2011 when she won the Grammy for Best New Artist. Born in Portland, Ore., Spalding studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she became the youngest professor in the history of the college at the age of 20.
