"A Journey with Purpose" to Premiere at Hollywood Film Festival
Documentary short film as told by a 13-year-old boy reflecting on a journey back to Auschwitz with his grandfather, a Holocaust survivor, on an experience that changes them both forever
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- JENG Entertainment together with Bullpen Integrated Marketing announced today that "A Journey with Purpose," the documentary short film produced by Gail Becker and Ricky Mintz will premiere at the Hollywood Film Festival on Saturday, October 22 at 9:00 p.m. The film was a labor of love for Becker who wrote it with her son Joshua Miller and also directed it. The film follows nine-year-old Joshua on a journey with his grandfather (Opa) Martin Becker, a holocaust survivor, back to Auschwitz where he was imprisoned at age nine for four years. Narrated by Joshua, the film captures the essence of that day in a way that impacts all who witness it.
The film began as a simple family record of their deeply personal journey and has evolved into a film that will likely inspire a new generation to learn and appreciate their own history and carry on the legacy to never forget.
"This is our history, but I think it speaks to all sorts of discrimination," said Miller. "I hope it will inspire other kids like me to help put a stop to this kind of hatred however and wherever it happens."
"As a child of two Holocaust survivors, I have always felt a sense of responsibility to tell their story," said Becker. "Now it is my son's turn to not only learn about his own history, but to do whatever he can to ensure this sort of hatred and intolerance never happens again."
Ricky Mintz, right brain CEO of Bullpen Integrated Marketing, who produced the film with Becker said, "once I saw the raw footage, I just knew this story needed to be told. I was honored to be a part of this important project."
"A Journey with Purpose" will premiere on Saturday, October 22 at 9:00 p.m. with the documentary feature, "Their Eyes Were Dry" at the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood. Tickets are $16 (or $15 if the guest is a member of ArcLight and buys the tickets online) and can be purchased through: http://www.arclightcinemas.com.
