Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota Partners with Top Minnesota Musicians for First Ever Benefit CD

Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota Partners with Top Minnesota Musicians for First Ever Benefit CD

MN MUSIC 4 MN KIDS, Vol. 1 features songs from well-known Minnesota artists with all proceeds benefiting Children's

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Some of Minnesota's hottest musicians are joining forces to raise money for Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, helping support Children's commitment to provide the best possible care to all children.

MN MUSIC 4 MN KIDS features family-friendly music from many of the state's most talented artists, including:

-- Bunny Clogs -- Mason Jennings -- Phantom Tails
-- Cloud Cult -- Koo Koo Kanga Roo -- Rogue Valley
-- Dessa -- Mayda -- Roma Di Luna
-- Gabriel Douglas -- Lucy Michelle -- Sleep Study
-- Farewell Milwaukee -- The Okee Dokee -- The Twilight Hours
Brothers
-- Dan Israel -- Toki Wright

Twelve of the 17 songs on the CD have never before been released, and all of the artists donated the tracks to benefit Children's.

Every year, Children's spends tens of millions of dollars providing care for children and families in need. Children's is the largest pediatric health care provider in Minnesota, and its hospitals never turn a child away regardless of ability to pay. To do this, Children's relies on community support.

Minnesota singer/songwriter, Adam Levy (The Honeydogs, Bunny Clogs), co-produced the CD along with Invisible Button Entertainment, and he said there was a great deal of enthusiasm from the artists he approached.

"You learn very quickly what an asset Children's is to this community when you see so many artists jump at the chance to help," said Levy. "It seems most people in this state have had a Children's experience with their own kids, or they know families who have received care there. I was really happy with the way my colleagues rallied around the cause."

The CD will sell for $18, with all of the proceeds going to Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.

"We have a basic philosophy that every child deserves the kind of care that we provide at Children's," said Bjorn Gunnerud, senior director of marketing and communications at Children's. "We're extremely grateful to all the musicians who signed on to help us with this project and we hope it will raise awareness in the community about the role philanthropy plays in helping us fulfill our mission."

MN MUSIC 4 MN KIDS will be available November 14 at Creative Kidstuff stores in the Twin Cities metro area and on www.CreativeKidstuff.com. It will also be sold at Children's Hospital's Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses, and through iTunes, Amazon.com and other digital music stores.

The CD will be launched with a concert event at the Cedar Cultural Center on Sunday, November 13. Many of the artists from the CD are scheduled to perform. Creative Kidstuff will also be there offering fun crafts and activities for kids of all ages. Concert ticket information can be found at www.thecedar.org/events/2011/11/13/mn-music-4-mn-kids.

About Children's:

Serving as Minnesota's children's hospital since 1924, Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota is one of the largest pediatric health care organizations in the United States, with 340 staffed beds at its two hospitals in St. Paul and Minneapolis. An independent, not-for-profit health care system, Children's of Minnesota provides care through more than 12,000 inpatient visits and more than 200,000 emergency room and other outpatient visits every year. Children's is the only Minnesota hospital system to provide comprehensive care exclusively to children.

Children's is regularly ranked among the top pediatric hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, most recently in 2010 for its neonatal care. Once again in 2010, Children's was recognized by the Leapfrog Group as one of the seven top hospitals in the country for quality and efficiency. In addition, the American Nurses Credentialing Center has named Children's a Magnet hospital, a designation that recognizes excellence in nursing.
