Fantastic Fest 2011 Announces Signature Events

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Fantastic Fest announces the events lineup as well as two additions to the film programming with LOVE and WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN. The events and parties at Fantastic Fest are part of what makes the festival a wholly unique experience. Description: Every day from Thursday the 22nd through Saturday the 24th, guests are encouraged to come by the highball and compete or just watch the daily indie game tournaments. We'll have drink specials each day and you will get to meet the folks that make up both the indie gaming scene in Austin as well as the international Fantastic Arcade game designers.

Attempted Rap Throw Down

Fantastic Debates presented by KNUCKLE and Arc Entertainment

Description: Quench your thirst for blood AND intellectual disputation with another installment of the Fantastic Debates, where the burning questions facing the fan community are resolved once and for all. In honor of the regional premiere of the acclaimed Irish bare-knuckle boxing documentary KNUCKLE, this year's debates will culminate in a fight-to-the-pain featuring KNUCKLE star and undefeated bare-knuckle brawler James Quinn McDonagh versus Fantastic Fest Co-Founder Tim League.

Prom Party

Description: The Highball and Fantastic Fest invite you to dress up, grab a corsage and dance the night away at the prom! Beginning at 10:30 PM, we'll have bowls of spiked punch available for party guests, and we'll be giving away drink tickets to Fantastic Fest badgeholders. Warm up on the dance floor with a prom montage & music videos hosted by the Action Pack, then prepare for a rock 'n' roll journey led by Rick K. and The Allnighters, featuring Steve Moore, a YouTube drumming sensation! We'll also hosting a dance-off and a costume contest, and the winners will be crowned Prom King & Queen. It will truly be a night to remember, and Annie Ray will be there with a photobooth to capture all of those special memories.

Description: After our heroic closing night film, Comic-Con: Episode Four: A Fan's Hope, put your cape on straight, your tights on tight, ditch that squaresville alter ego of yours for the night, and let your superhero flag fly as we close out this year's Fantastic Fest with a Legion of Superheroes Carnival down at the American Legion Hall!

Not only will you get to booze and schmooze with your fellow defenders of Truth, Justice and Skintight Outfits, but we'll have a full carnival of suitably heroic activities set up in the yard including Aquaman's Ocean, The Flash's Mountain Race Challenge, Batman's Boxing Battle, Spider-man's Wall of Webbing, Superman's House of Flight and more! Plus, our Alamo chefs are creating special carnival food for everyone (mmm... funnel cake) and plenty of beer and cocktails to help a crusader unwind!
