"Chasing Rainbows" Comes Full Circle at the Fox Theatre
First Annual Gala Concert and Antique Car Raffle November 4, 2011
TUCSON, Ariz., Sept. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation is pleased to announce the inaugural benefit, Chasing Rainbows, will take place on Friday, November 4th, 2011 at the Fox Tucson Theatre located at 17 West Congress in downtown Tucson. The gala is named for the very first film shown at the Fox when it opened in 1930, Chasing Rainbows, which starred Jack Benny and played to an enthusiastic crowd of 3,000.
Sponsored by Jim Click Automotive Team and Tucson Lifestyle Magazine, the evening will feature 1930's inspired cocktails and buffet provided by Blue House Catering, a raffle for a restored classic 1930's Model A (donated by Jim Click Automotive Team), viewing of the original movie Chasing Rainbows in all three bar areas of the theatre and concludes with a special concert starring Grammy Award winning vocalist Judy Collins. In the spirit of the 1930's, guests are encouraged (but not required) to dress in period clothing.
"This historic, treasured theatre needs continual financial support," said Fletcher McCusker, Providence Corporation CEO and new Chairman of the Fox Foundation. "We will do our part with premier entertainment and we hope this Gala event will become a major fundraiser for us."
Tickets for Chasing Rainbows are $150, which includes a raffle ticket for the Model A, cocktails and buffet and admission to the concert or $250 for the VIP ticket which also includes a pre-concert private reception with Judy Collins, premiere seating and complimentary valet parking. Tickets can be purchased at the Fox Theatre box office, from any Fox Foundation member, or online at www.foxtucson.com.
The Fox has been on an upward trajectory (since the Rio Nuevo District agreed to term out the debt that could have forced the foreclosure of the Fox) and has had recent success with a number of sold out shows including Steve Martin and Emmy Lou Harris. The exciting fall schedule offers great promise with additional premiere acts including Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, Don McLean, Aaron Neville, the Tucson Symphony, Up With People and the Moscow Ballet. Additionally, the Fox was recently selected as a featured venue on the popular PBS television series "The Artists Den", which showcases little known music venues nationwide.
