Maddox comes to WXYZ with more than a decade of broadcast experience. Most recently, he anchored the weekend evening news at WKEF-TV in Dayton, Ohio. He has also reported for WIAT-TV in Birmingham, Alabama.
"We are delighted to have Malcolm join the Action News Team. He is a solid journalist with experience and passion," said WXYZ News Director Tim Dye.
Maddox started his broadcasting career in radio after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He developed his story-telling skills as a photojournalist with WGBA-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin; KUSI-TV in San Diego, California; and WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his hometown.
"Timing is everything and now is the perfect time to be in Detroit. The region has tremendous potential that is on the verge of being realized," said Maddox. "As a journalist, there's no place I'd rather be."
In addition to weekend anchoring, Maddox will also be delivering compelling stories to Channel 7 viewers during the week.
Maddox will join Anu Prakash on the anchor desk beginning August 13th.
