The Phantom Arrives at Ubiquity Studios

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ubiquity Studios recently completed a production using the highly touted and coveted Phantom Flex digital camera. The Phantom is billed as the world's most flexible digital cinema camera and it's not hard to see why. When pushed to its limit, the Phantom is capable of filling every second of a 1080p recording with an astonishing 2,800 frames per second.

Ubiquity Studios put the Phantom to use by bringing down a Lamborghini LP-560 from Beverly Hills Lamborghini and a professional driver to showcase the imaging capabilities of perhaps the world's best slow-motion camera. Ubiquity also brought in a pro-street skater to film doing kick flips in its large sound stage. You can see footage from the shoot at www.ubiquitybc.com/press.php?id=1&pg=0.

Known for having the largest turnkey studio facilities and sound stages between Los Angeles and San Diego, CA, Ubiquity Studios is able to give their demanding clients the best the film and television industry has to offer. "We brought the Phantom to Ubiquity Studios so we can offer the most highly sought after cameras and camera equipment to shoot action sports, movies, commercials, and television programs," stated Chris Carmichael, Ubiquity's CEO.

"We shot the Lamborghini coming around the corner of our studio lot at 100 + MPH, and when you see the footage played back it seems as if it the car was barely moving around the hairpin turns. The Phantom is a phenomenal camera, and adds to the arsenal of cameras Ubiquity studios is able to offer," said Ubiquity's Director of Cinematography Mike Prickett.

The Phantom has a 12-bit pixel depth with the 1920x1080 resolution in the standard mode with three auxiliary power outlets for viewfinders and other external devices such as lenses from Canon, Nikon, and Panasonic. It was developed with 3D recording in mind and boasts on-camera controls for settings, playback, and even minor editing.

CEO Chris Carmichael said, "The Phantom is perfect for achieving that action shot the naked eye just can't comprehend. This camera is able to capture the details that the naked eye may miss. I know filmmakers and cinematographers alike are dying for a facility and camera equipment in Orange County all accessible under one roof. Ubiquity Studios offers that and more."

Ubiquity Studios is one of the groups of a select few that have been given access to these incredible cameras. Those that have had the pleasure to use the Phantom realize it is one of the most naturally comfortable and logical cameras out there. Ubiquity Studios particularly appreciates the compatibility of the hardware and recognizes it as one of the best features of the Flex, outside of the incredible speed and precision it offers.

"Anyone using the Phantom will automatically fall in love with the dynamic footage it can offer. You instantly add production value to any project you may be working on when you add the capabilities of the Phantom Flex. It is exciting to have access to such a valuable tool," said Mike Prickett.
