Millennium Promise Announces New Public Service Advertisements
New PSAs to run in conjunction with USA Pro Cycling Challenge in tens of millions of households
NEW YORK, Aug. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Starting today, two 30-second public service advertisements will begin airing in millions of households across the United States on network and cable television to highlight the work of Millennium Promise and its new Spokes of Change campaign. The PSAs will run through the end of August on Versus and NBC Sports on airtime donated by the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, and in several hundred additional donated slots provided by other networks. Both PSAs can be viewed online at www.millenniumpromise.org and www.spokesofchange.org.
"We are grateful to the many partners who have committed their tremendous creative talents and resources to help us advance the frontiers of rural development across Africa," said Millennium Promise CEO John W. McArthur. "Connecting these messages with millions of households will be a major opportunity to keep motivating our generation's movement to end extreme poverty."
"9-1-1," a thought-provoking spot from global creative solutions company SapientNitro, aims to raise awareness for Spokes of Change, a campaign of Millennium Promise that raises the profile of Community Health Workers in Africa. In the PSA, an average American family calls 9-1-1 for help, only to find themselves waiting a full day for emergency responders who travel on foot -- a striking parallel with the reality for many families in rural Africa.
"This is the kind of opportunity that agencies and creative teams dream about," said Ronn Pearson, Creative Director at SapientNitro. "It's a chance to do something beautiful and meaningful and powerful, all for the greater good of an incredible charity. And our PSA plays an important role in communicating the larger message surrounding their race to end extreme poverty-if we move faster, we win."
"Potential Realized," an upbeat spot created by Brooklyn-based agency CamLin, demonstrates the incredible transformations that have taken place within Millennium Promise's Millennium Villages Project in only five years. The PSA emphasizes that our generation has the power to end extreme poverty, and highlights the holistic, community-driven investments made across rural Africa, including improved access to safer water, education, health care, roads and technology.
"CamLin was honored to create this piece and show the tangible progress Millennium Promise makes in the communities they touch," said Matt Finlin, Co-Founder of CamLin Productions. Added partner Ricky Camilleri, "'Potential Realized' truly captures what Millennium Promise is all about: giving people the tools they need to create a better future."
