Trails of a Legend: The Ponies of Thailand
LAS VEGAS, Aug. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- You won't need special glasses to see that 3D technology is not a gimmick.
Toshiba showcased a 65" Glasses Free 3DTV at CES this year. Qosmio boasts an innovative laptop computer with a 17" Glasses Free screen.
Al Caudullo is THE 3D Guy and his 3D documentaries are groundbreaking and breathtaking visual extravaganzas that are redefining the documentary genre.
Caudullo is riding the crest of the new wave of 3D technology currently sweeping the marketplace.
Caudullo, characterized as the "3D evangelist" by industry icon Sandy Climan, former CEO of 3ality, is sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge as an adjunct professor in the Film Department of the prestigious Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand, where he designed the curriculum and teaches the first-ever 3D production course in Asia while serving as a consultant for this rapidly emerging technology for many major industry players.
Caudullo is applying his thirty years of photography experience and expertise with veteran Thai director and cinematographer Dorn Ratanathatsanee on a 3D documentary with a Panasonic camera system featuring the quest of the "Thai Horse Savior," veterinarian Dr. Siraya Chunekamrai, and relating the story of her passionate mission to save the noble yet sadly neglected Thai Pony from extinction.
Cross breeding and improper care have drastically reduced their numbers. During the course of treating these horses, Dr. Siraya discovered striking similarities between the Thai Pony and Mongolian wild horses, the last of the legitimate wild horses surviving in the world today.
Intrigued, Dr. Siraya began her scientific quest to determine the connection between these seemingly unrelated breeds. She took hair and blood samples which were tested at the University of California, Davis, revealing that Thai Ponies are not a modern horse breed, but actually an ancient horse breed whose remarkable ability to withstand deadly diseases has insured their survival.
Dr. Siraya's determination to save the Thai Pony was manifested in the Lampang Pony Welfare Foundation she founded in 2008 to improve the health and welfare of Thai Ponies. Caudullo and Ratanathatsanee are documenting Dr. Siraya's quest to save the Thai Pony "on location" in Thailand, Mongolia, and California. Armed with 3D cameras, they are equally determined to capture the majesty and mystery of these magnificent animals.
